The Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is seeking applications for a Research Assistant Professorship in the field of language learning and processing. Candidates should have a strong background in Neurolinguistics and/or Psycholinguistics, as well as a solid quantitative experience in machine learning, large language models, language intervention, and/or neuroimaging.
Applicants should have (i) PhD in Linguistics, Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field; (ii) postdoctoral research experience and/or a strong journal publication record commensurate with rank; and (iii) strong computer programming (MATLAB, Python, C++, etc.) or statistics background. Prior experience with fNIRS, EEG, and/or fMRI research is highly advantageous.
The successful candidate is expected to (a) conduct research as the main duty; (b) actively pursue external research grants, such as General Research Fund, in the capacity of Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator; (c) co-supervise and mentor students at undergraduate and graduate levels; and (d) undertake minimal teaching duties at undergraduate and graduate levels. The appointee will work closely with Prof. Gangyi Feng’s team in the department.
Appointment will normally be made on a contract basis for up to three years.
