A Predictive Personalization Approach to Enhance Foreign Language Learning and Teaching
About the Study
This research project explores innovative, personalized approaches to foreign language learning and teaching, aiming to enhance students' learning experiences and improve instructional effectiveness. Funded by the Youth Collaborative Research Grant (YCRG), this longitudinal study was conducted to analyze how students learn a third language - German or French.

What to Expect
Testing Details:
The study will assess your language learning abilities through various tests, including:
Language learning ability tests across multiple dimensions, including pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and pragmatics
Language learning motivation questionnaire
Cognitive ability tests, including both verbal and non-verbal intelligence assessments
Who Can Participate?
We invite participants who meet the following criteria:
Native speakers of Cantonese or Mandarin
Currently enrolled in a French or German course at CUHK
Benefits of Participation
By taking part in this study, you will receive:
Research Allowance: HKD $80 per hour, with an additional Bonus upon completing all tests (Total: HKD $400–$500).

Time Commitment & Location
Participants will be required to attend two sessions (each lasting approximately 2 - 2.5 hours)
Testing will take place at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK): Leung Kau Kui Building (GF), Hui Yeung Shing Building (4F)
