Welcome to the Neurobiology of Language Learning (NLL) Lab @ The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)! Our lab focuses on various contemporary cognitive neuroscience research approaches, including event-related potentials (ERP), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), in addition to systems neuroscience techniques such as multivariate neural decoding and connectivity pattern analyses. We aim to gain a deeper understanding of the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying language learning and processing in children, adults, and clinical populations (e.g., children with cochlear implants and aphasia). Our goal is to identify critical brain pathways and uncover the mechanisms involved in language learning and representation, which facilitate the development of more precise predictive models that forecast language learning success, development, and recovery, ultimately providing evidence-based tools for enhancing language learning and rehabilitation.
